The university's student-life page describes the club as bringing together students interested in chess, organising interactive lessons and tournaments for them and preparing them for inter-university competitions. Two news items on the university's site report tournaments held by the club, one of five rounds dedicated to the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty and one titled Kings of 64; neither page prints a date.
