Chess schools and academies around Baku 20

Most chess teaching in Baku happens in schools that also organise tournaments. Məmmədyarovlar Şahmat Məktəbi on Həsən Məcidov in Yasamal, Suraxanı Şahmat Məktəbi in Yeni Günəşli, Binə Şahmat Məktəbi in Binə and Premier School in Xətai between them appear on the tournament server nearly every weekend, mostly with category events (dərəcə yarışları) for children. The state youth sports schools do the same: number 4 in Nəsimi, number 3 in Nizami with branches in Səbail and Buzovna, and number 11 in Qaradağ.

Smaller centres organise events of their own: the numbered AK Chess Tempo rapids on Mehdi Hüseyin, rapid and blitz at NOVA Academy on Xocalı prospekti, and tournaments of the Dinamik İnteraktiv İnkişaf Mərkəzi on Lütfizadə. Sumqayıt has its chess school and Koala Academy, Xırdalan its own chess school. Abdulov Chess Club is the only one whose site describes lessons: groups for children from five to fourteen, one-to-one and online lessons. Few of these places publish a fee or a timetable; where a tournament listing prints a phone number, the entry shows it.
